Straight thoughts from a CleverVixen

I AM a BLACK woman first, Ms. Ferraro!

THINKYet another magical moment in the world of politics.

Was getting ready this morning and had the Today show on. At some point Meredith began to interviewsimpleminded gasbag Geraldine Ferraro as well as another panelist Rachel Maddow.

Once again, gasbag Ferraro starts in with gender victim monologue about Hillary and how she was being beaten up by the boys through out this race and all the inequities Hillary’s had to face due to  her gender. Maddow then interjects that Hillary herself brought on this gender issue by calling herself a “girl”; of course this was readily dismissed by Ferraro who also dismissed the possibility of discussing Hillary’s gender without being sexist.  Hillary, Ferraro and all the rest of her cronies have done quite the bang up job with painting Clinton as the victim of sexism, yet they have no issue with race baiting and interjecting race at every turn.

If I were to vote for Hillary Clinton I would be committing suicide for me and the forward progression of Black American women (not refugees); I’m now 100% convinced that it would be a detrimental move.  In the initial stages of this race I definitely leaned toward Clinton; not because she was a woman but because of her last name and the association with her HUSBAND, former President. Not because she had some supposed body of experience, which has yet to be shown and proven.  As things progressed it was she and her underhanded tactics that changed my vote. :-)

Above it all I am a BLACK WOMAN first and a WOMAN second; and as a Black woman, I first need to make strides, identify, and get in touch with who and what makes me the individual I am. I’m never one of those individuals who buy black, vote black or do anything because of race so I wouldn’t necessarily fall into that category.  However, this voting season has been so much more of an eye opener as to where my place in this society as a black woman is and where/ what people perceive of me and my vote. Not like I didn’t have a clue prior to.

When I go into a posh setting for example Tiffany’s, the saleswomen don’t readily come to me; not because of my gender but because of my RACE.  To them it’s as if I’m an anomaly in this pure and sacred setting, never-mind that this treatment is coming from whites and people of color alike.  And before someone suggests the treatment is due to my style of dress, no, I dress accordingly when going into certain settings. When I go for a job interview they’re not seeing a woman, they’re seeing little ole black girl, me. Nothing more nothing less. One can throw out the argument that maybe your name is too “ethnic”, nope, my name is of Hebrew origin and is a very uncommon name; doesn’t have a -iqua, -isha, or -quan insight.  So that argument doesn’t wash. Yet, they’ll take Lorali with the blonde hair and alabaster skin, in for an interview that was scheduled AFTER mine.  Doesn’t take a genius to figure out this scenario.

Two fools and a BlkPresidentA gasp escaped from me when in the interview simple minded Ferraro brought up race (yet again), and mentioned that at one of Hillary’s events, someone held up a sign saying, Iron my shirt. She then goes on to say that if someone held would’ve held up a sign at an Obama event saying, Shine my shoes, that there would have been a mass outcry of Racism.

sidebar - And yet she says she’s not a racist. Right…

As if that wasn’t enough she felt the need to mention that Obama did the “dirt off your shoulders” gesture regarding something said by Messiah Clinton. Boy did that get her depends in a twist. She saw that as disrespectful and sexist and dismissive and god knows what else.  However, Ms. Maddox brought up a VERY valid point that depending on who’s looking at it view points will be different; because being from a younger generation she didn’t view it as being anything other than a hip gesture referencing Jay-z’s “dirt off your shoulder” shtick.

The difference is generation is a key factor that has been and continues grossly over looked. Due to the gen gap it is of course expected that the mindset, expectations and wants will inevitable differ on one level or another, yet this too was dismissed by biggot Ferraro. How convenient.

This woman is intent on further dividing the Democratic party, after all she’s already made itup yours ferraro clear that if Clinton is not the party candidate then she just may end up voting for the other team. If this is not a divisive, low down tactic then I don’t know what is.

And another thing, wtf is it with this entire ” white, working class, blue collar” shit? I can’t even get into that right now, I’m still dealing with the - Shine my shoe comment. Racist piece of cow dung.

I also saw Ferraro on the Today Show. I don’t know at what point Hillary became a victim. She has portrayed herself as tough as nails throughout the campaign but now when things are not going her way she and her surrogates are saying she is the victim of sexism. I too wrote a post regarding Geraldine’s antics: http://www.ebonymompolitics.wordpress.com. Some of Hillary’s supporters write some very stinging comments, but the reality is I am black first and a woman second.
