SO on Saturday at 3am I was still up. Between doing laundry, having my usual insomnia, watching African movie-O and snacking on popsicles, I was here scoping out random blogs.  Unfortunately, I came across THE most disturbing and creepy YOUTUBE video I’ve seen to date.

When I came across this video I was at a lost for words, and we all know I have an opinion on nearly everything!  I don’t know how old or recent  this vid is but  it is still disturbing.

I don’t know whether this despicable piece of garbage is actually telling the truth but this is no laughing matter.  This quite frankly is appalling that a topic of this magnitude can be taken so lightly. In fact, if you listen to his rhetoric you can sense he is more of a crazed idiot than you could imagine.

What gives him the right to want to “teach these young women a lesson”? In fact he’d be doing just the opposite.  However, it did get me thinking about the bigger picture regarding women (young and old) using contraceptives with their partners.  We’ve all read the staggering statistics regarding  Black women and the transmittal rate of HIV/AIDS and other STD’s, yet Black women are still getting this disease at alarming rates. 

Why are we women doing this to ourselves? And I say ourselves because WE as women are allowing these acts to be performed, without demanding our partners use protection. There is a clear choice to me about going any further without a condom.  We can demand that these men have good jobs, a decent financial background, nice vehicles, etc - yet WE don’t demand these men use a condom and take an HIV test before sleeping with us.

I think in this day and age even people in long term relationships should be using protection. Women tend to like learning the hard way about these men who are cheating on the side and who eventually end up bringing something home. We all know they’re not only cheating with multiple women but also with men and that can be worse. Men who sleep with men don’t consider themselves gay so they feel no need in wearing condoms. Have we taken nothing from that opptortunistic imp J. L. King? This men screwing men issue isn’t a new topic yet we all feel like it can never happen to us. Wise up folks because it’s that sort of thinking that is raising our numbers of women getting this disease. Being in love is a wonderful thing but letting it blind us is causing us to blow like dust in the wind.

We can point the finger in all directions but in the end we Black Women can only blame ourselves.  We KNOW better but why aren’t we DOING any better?

How man PSA’s do we need  to reinforce the importance of safe sex? How many friends, aunts, nieces, mothers, sisters, neighbors have to die before we GET IT?
